OK. Must be very frustrating for you. I would be too. Have you searched the HP site? Have you contacted them? You may want to.

Try the driver thing. That may work. I'm thinking if it worked in the last build it may work again.

You also may consider a clean install. Perhaps something did not load correctly.

Just for grins try the RestoreHealth part of this: Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

I've tried all these as well. Even tried uninstalling graphics driver and reinstalling from HP website.

Windows Explorer still doesn't work when second monitor is plugged in in extend mode.

Did you perform an advance system Disk Cleanup? Wondering why the Windows.old folder isn't there.

You may consider clean installing the Creators Update in the tutorial I linked. If that doesn't work, you may consider going back to Anniversary Update to clean install that (build 14393). Not sure if an ISO can be found to do so, though.

FYI, the Fall update will be released October 17 that may work for you again.

BTW, do you have recovery media? Does your lappy have an HP/OEM recovery partition? If not sure, please post a screenshot of Disk Management.

I ended up installing another local user account and now I can plug in a second monitor without Windows Explorer freezes up. Everything is normal now.

Does this make sense and can I fix my user account that I have everything under? According to another site, my account that I had been user is corrupt and that is what is causing all the windows explorer issues. My problem is now I can't get to all my files that are under the original (corrupt) account.

Did you delete the other account? If not, you will be able to get your files. Open File Explorer and look in that old account. I suggest you transfer them to a thumb drive and do an AV scan on it.
