New Windows 10 populates Internet Explorer 11 with old favoirtes

I recently got a Windows 10 tablet. It populated my IE11 favorites with some old links which looks like it's up to a year old or something. I checked OneDrive and nothing is there. Where do these links come from? I wasn't away of any sync feature built into IE11.

    More details:

Previously, I had used Xmarks to sync IE11 on my previous tablet and desktop. I didn't install Xmarks on the new tablet yet; also, the Xmarks site contains updated favorites to this date...while the new tablet IE11 has favorites only up until January 2017 (that I've found). February 2017 and newer favorites aren't there.

It looks like the new tablet's favorites folders are dated 12/22/2017 8:23PM, but the files within are dated 1/8/2018 7:45PM.
So my guess 12/22/2017 is the initial sync event, 1/8/2018 is the last update sync event.
I don't remember anything I did to trigger such events. Furthermore, the favorites are outdated by a year or so!

Any hints on where this repository might be coming from?
