    Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files.

    CCleaner always detects 1-2GB files to be cleaned from IE. I don't use IE, Edge occasionally so what are these files? Are they possibly Windows update files?

    Edge uses the same temporary internet files locations as Internet explorer and they aren't upgrade files, no.

    2GB seems a lot. If you are interested why it is so big next time you run analysis in CCleaner, double click on "Internet Explorer - Temporary Internet Files" line and it will show you all of the files it plans to delete. You can then right click on any of them and take the option "Save to text file". This will make a log file like this (which is from running Edge only and not Internet explorer for 1 minute after last clean):
    Analysis Complete - (0.028 secs)
    5.08 MB to be removed. (Approximate size)
    Details of files to be deleted (Note: No files have been deleted yet)
    Internet Explorer - Temporary Internet Files	5,198 KB	4 files
    C:\Users\Hali\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\H6EQ3217\edgecompatviewlist[1].xml	78 KB
    C:\Users\Hali\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\T3XJTS6G\auto[1].htm	1 KB
    C:\Users\Hali\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Low\SuggestedSites.dat	5,121 KB
    C:\Users\Hali\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds Cache\FB3VNFCJ\[1]	0 KB
    This log file shows the files it plans to delete and their sizes. You can then see if there are any obvious big files or upload the log file here if it isn't clear. It may contain information you consider private so you should check it yourself first.

    CCleaner continues to find large amounts of files from Internet Explorer.

    They are .cache and .dat files in location: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\

    Edit: Well duh .... It's the MMC that's causing the few files (usually 2 or 3 of the views[1]) that CCleaner finds in the \INetCache\IE

    I've been wondering about this myself (I don't use IE or Edge). I'm not 100% sure, but it appears some of the Windows Apps (don't know exactly which ones) creates a view file (basically it's a .html file) and other files ... for it's layout and that's what's getting cached.

    Example ...

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
    body {margin: 0; font: icon; color: windowtext; background:window; overflow:none}
    span {font:icon;}
    #FolderIcon {height:expression(TaskpadName.clientHeight + 10); width:100%;}
    #TaskpadName {font: caption; color:captiontext; margin-left:0; margin-right:0; margin-top: 0; width:100%; border:0; padding-left:3; padding-top:5; padding-bottom:7;}
    #DisplayNameElem {font:icon; padding-left:5px; padding-top:5px; padding-bottom:3px; padding-right:5px}
    #Details {padding-left: 12px; margin-top: 8px; overflow:auto}
    #DescriptionElem {padding-left: 12px; margin-top: 8px; overflow-y:scroll; overflow:auto}
    A:visited {color:expression(document.linkColor);}
    A:hover {color:expression(document.linkColor);}

    <script language="javascript">
    var L_strNoItemSelected_Text = "Select an item to view its description.";
    var L_strDescription_Text = "\nDescription:\n";
    var L_strMultipleItemsSelected_Text = "Multiple items selected.";

    It's my experience over the many versions that Internet Explorer and File Explorer [and the older Windows Explorer] are more intertwined with Windows itself than is usually noticeable. One can go to IE's Tools, Internet Options or Control Panel, Internet Options to made the deletions [and other things].

    It wouldn't surprise me that Windows would use Edge/IE for Windows apps caching and the like...
