    Browser repeatedly popping up.

    Howdy!

I am a new member here,so excuse me if I post on the wrong section about my problem.

Basically I currently have windows 10 for around a year, and had no problems whatsoever. However,I booted my laptop today only to come across a very annoying issue indeed, which pretty much triggered firefox to open every time I tried to open a file or even just click somewhere.

I uninstalled firefox to see if it was the browser that caused the problem, but once I deleted it,edge would do the excact same thing. Its very annoying and prevents me from pretty much using my laptop. Also, when I close the wifi connection and stay offline,a window named tips pops up which opens right after I close it,forcing me to have internet.

Anyways folks, pardon any grammatical mistakes of mine,I am not english and english is not my main language.Thank you in advance for any sort of help you provide!

    Hello Zed,

I'd be very concerned that you have inadvertently downloaded a virus or Trojan of some sort that has hijacked your PC. Please run a virus checker and anti-malware program to see what it can find.

You can run Windows Defender in an offline scan if you have the latest version of W10:

Would malwarebytes work,or no?I think I can run windows defender, but I'd scan with malwarebytes as well just to be safe.

Yes Malwarebytes is worth running as well as Defender.

The advice to do a Defender Offline Scan will deal with some malware that can run processes that hide it from any scanner you use while Windows is running. With the offline scan you haven't loaded windows so none of these processes can start.

You can try running Rkill which attempts to kill these processes then run Malwarebytes straight away (don't reboot after Rkill).

I just tried to run Windows Defender offline as a test and it goes so far, my system restarts and there is a brief message that Windows Defender is doing something before Windows loads but then Windows immediately loads and I am not convinced Defender did any offline scanning. The process is supposed to take several minutes not seconds!

Update:I couldn't find a way to get the offline scan to work, and now the problem seems to make any sort of work i want to impossible.I can't use any folders and also makes doing basic work very difficult.
