    No telemetry.

They won't be getting any telemetry from me. I changed the start page in Edge and now it crashes before it does more than open the window. Epic failure.

    I vote with the Edge-haters!

Ok, so Edge is early in its development. So what? I want something that works now -- and in the way I want it to work. I agree with people who are saying that Edge seems like some kind of (not-too-great) mobile browser. Surely I'm not the only one who still uses my desktop with a keyboard and mouse?

I'm staying with IE11 for now, too. The only problem I'm having is when I click on a hyperlink in an Outlook 2010 email message: the annoying window "How do you want to open . . ." pops up, even though IE11 is my default browser. (If you set a different default browser -- like FireFox -- everything works fine. The problem is just with the Outlook 2010/IE11 combination.)

edge seems massively dumbed down, very bare options configuration compared to IE11.

From what I can see all of the following are missing.

No options to toggle tls 1.1 1.0 1.2 etc.
No options to toggle gpu acceleration
No options to set file cache location (I like to use ram disk)
    No security zones
    No tracking protection lists
    No addons
    No advanced cookie settings
    No per domain settings
No options to adjust certificate verification
No options to adjust UTF-8 and IDN
    No toggle for crash protection
    No tab options

Basically edge feels like a mobile orientated app, as it uses the "modern" interface.

Is there a reason to use edge instead of IE11? aside from future proofing as I am assuming IE11 at some point will be obsoleted by Microsoft.
I would add a few things to the list of missing features.

Unable to sort favorites (I want the folders at the top, not the bottom.)
Can't add search engines (Yahoo and Twitter are the only ones that show as options. I want Google) EDIT: Something has changed because if you go to the Google search page, then it appears in the list of providers you can choose

I like Edge but just can't use it now because of the missing things. It is very fast but would be faster if ads could be blocked. Pages heavy in ads load slower than with IE and a tracking list.

big reason for me sticking with IE is favourites sync (not sure if this is not implemented yet or I have an issue)

With IE I can use my laptop or tablet and the favourites would stay in sync and be in the same order on both my devices
with Edge I have no sync and have to set up favourites on each device

Presently, I use Edge for this forum and one other. For me it works just fine and it's extremely fast. I like what it can do and IMO the future of Edge looks very bright.

    YMMV

IE11 remains better if for no other reason because it manages multiple printers. I use 3 printers for different programs and functions. IE knows which one to use for which application without being told. Firefox, Chrome and Edge do not offer this convenience. I have to tell it which printer to use every time I change programs. And if I forget to change it back it can be a very costly mistake.
Also if you have multiple tabs open and click CLOSE, IE asks if you want to close the current window or all, none of the others give you this safety net, they just go ahead and close them all.
Windows XP and 7 remain the best OS's ever written and IE the best browser. Stop replacing them and just keep them up to date with security improvements.

When the Operating System is no longer being supported/updated eventually software developers will no longer update their programs as they do not get backup support from the OS when encountering problems such as with security. Similar thing with hardware that encounters the "planned obsolescence", when out of production and out of the supply chains no money coming it to pay the programmers for updating so the devices can't be used on newer OSes.

True, but then ALL bank ATMs are XP based as is much of the military and they're paying Microsoft to keep up support for their systems because it's cheaper than replacing all the hardware.

Many other types of businesses are also using older versions of Windows, usually because of proprietary software and devices but from talking with the IT support for vets, clinics, CPAs, etc., they are paying for the support they need until their required software is updated for later versions of Windows, one item I have encountered several times in the last 3 years is the non-film X-Ray devices.
