How To Save Flash Videos From Websites?

    Hi all,

I've been using "download extensions" in Chrome to download flash videos for a long time now. However, I've been told that even while I'm using my VPN it's possible for these "download extensions" to call home and contact their author.

How else can I download flash videos in a more secure way?

    Thank you!

Imagine you used a program to do that, say Free download manager or Apowersoft Video Download Capture.
If you could download the video without any outgoing communication, clearly you could block any outgoing communication from that program. But I suspect that would stop the download.

So you'd need a firewall rule or a Hosts rule that blocked any attempt to access the author's site. Which implies you'd need to know any ip address used for that purpose.

This appears to be verging on the paranoid, though. What are you concerned about?

Sorry if I'm becoming an annoyance, but this is truly a serious issue for me.

So I need to find a 3rd party app to be able to download flash videos from within Chrome?

    Thanks!

I understand and respect your point of view. To some extent I share your concerns, though I don't take them as far as you appear to. We each have to find a level of security we are comfortable with...

No, those are separate programs. The point being to make it easy to identify the communication by not using something in a browser.

I posted this in the Windows Insider part of the Forum but may help:
I use a small add-in for IE11 and Firefox called Ant.com, adds a Toolbar and usually has no problems with downloads that it recognizes. Some embedded videos simply can't be dealt with easily. And I use VLC for playback as it works with many formats.

    Wow, that's a great idea!

I just tried pressing "Windows Key + G" and I'm asked if "this is a game" and I'm only given this option.

What am I supposed to do?

    Thanks!
