can't connect to url's with https, clik, ssl, clickbank in address

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but I can't find anything. searches on the web indicate similar problems going back to 2010 with XP and Win7 so it can't be all that difficult to figure. I noticed lately that I was drawing a lot of popups even saying Hmmm...can't reach that address. When I looked carefully I noticed I couldn't link to Groovy.com from their emails with url http://clicks.aweber/ etc but if I edited out the clicks. it would connect to the site.Other sites like Page Not Found simply won't connect and you can't edit the url to make it work. Click on Page not Found and see if it resolves - not for me.
I've looked at settings in 3 browsers, as Seamonkey, Edge, and Chrome all exhibit the same problem. There have been suggestions that wincock or tcpip may be corrupt so I used netshield to reset both at CMD line. Nothing seems to work and wonder if anyone has a suggestion what to look at or do?
Many thanks System Win10 64, 32 Mb ram i7 cpu on Sabertooth mobo.

I get same results so it's not your fault I assume normally it goes via clicks to produce revenue but clicks is down hence the problem

Well, I'm not sure. This has been going on with no solution for about a month now. Surely if a major marketing site had a problem others would know of it and it would get fixed. No, I firmly believe the issue lies somewhere in my OS but it is damned elusive.

Have you tried changing your DNS service?

Change DNS Server Address on Windows 10 PC

Any chance you are a Bell customer and you are trying to access outlook.com or hotmail.com

Interesting, so I tried the websites on my iPhone 7s and Samsung Galaxy Tab E and they both connect fineI noted on the Galaxy a popup to go to an intermediate site first so I typed that into my PC browser but that went to Page Not Found and failed to connect with the message:
    Failed to Connect
The connection was refused when attempting to contact ssl.clickbank.net.
Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computerís network connection.
Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

So no difference, but since those two other devices worked fine it is definitely something up with my computer. I just did prior to this a DNS flush, so that didn't resolve anything. I'm suspecting a missing or corrupt dll. Will try my system repair disk next and see if that finds a problem.

No, I'm with Telus.net here in BC, a telco similar to Bell. I did a DNS flush as I noted when reading through the DNS reset pages a link to flushing it and the remark "if you get a lot of pages not reachable" then it's a good idea to do a flush. I'm not sure if a reset at this point would make any difference. Going to fire up my old backup PC which is dual boot XP and Win10 and see if it responds OK or not. Thanks for the info.

You also need to see if Telus has restrictions on certain domains (ISP "blacklisting").

I doubt that as all had been working perfectly up to a month ago when I started noticing these failures to connect. I booted my old PC from 2000 and waited 2 hours for it to do windows updates. It had no problems with this using the same browser, so it can't be a blacklisting issue.
What I do recall a while back is that I did a cleanout of temp and 0-byte files. I noticed issues right away so restored them all but was not sure if a few had not returned. I'm not sure if this was the cause of my issues because I wasn't paying attention particularly until I couldn't connect to an "ssl.clickbank.net" page last week.
Anyway, about to do some repair disk procedures and see if anything transpires. It will be really interesting to find out what the issue is methinks. Haven't had such a puzzling event for a while since I got a really bad ransom ware infection 2 1/2 years ago. Cheers.

Well I've ran various programs trying to route out an evil files but have found nothing. An sfc /scannow produced nothing. My repair disc produced nothing and I don't particularly want to restore back to Dec 26th to see. However, I am tracking down people with similar issues and a lot of those appear to be certificate problems. So tomorrow I'll review certificates on my old PC with my main PC. I also found an interesting entry regarding jv16 Power Tools, a program I also have but 2014 version, so I've downloaded their free 2017 trial (60 days) to see if I can understand what this person was talking about. The hunt continues, stay tunes. Cheers to all who have chipped in.
