Problems adding files to Firefox folders

I recently made MS Edge my default browser due to multiple problems w/Firefox. I've added new files since this occurred but for the last couple of days I haven't been able to add files (websites, etc.) to my Firefox folders. It seems to me that I would click on the star and add the new file to Favorites Bar and then after opening Bookmarks Menu another message would pop up and ask which folder to I wanted to put this file in. This is not working for me. I've also tried the option that looks so easy...click on star, message asking which folder I wanted and click "save", but this isn't working either. I know I must be doing something wrong, but it seems that method #2 should be the correct and definitely easiest way. However neither method is working, so I'm hoping some folks here who are familiar w/FF solve this problem for me. Thanks in advance.

    Standard procedures:

    1. Start Firefox in Safe Mode, test. If problem does not occur, restart Fx, disable a group of extensions, retest, and continue until problem recurs, identifying the problematic extension.

Thanks for the response but, as I stated in my post, I'm not using FF. I'm using MS Edge and I've imported all my folders from FF into Edge. I've been able to add websites up until today when it started acting squirrelly. If you have any further suggestions please let me know.

I quote what you wrote, ". I've added new files since this occurred but for the last couple of days I haven't been able to add files (websites, etc.) to my Firefox folders."

"I recently made MS Edge my default browser due to multiple problems w/Firefox. I've added new files since this occurred but for the last couple of days I haven't been able to add files (websites, etc.) to my Firefox folders" This is what I said in my post but I should have chosen a different name. Now I see where the confusion came from...guess there's no way to retitle the post, but now that you know that I was referring to my FF folders that have been imported into Edge can you offer any suggestions? So sorry for the confusion...may have to repost. Thanks.

    Hi Fred.
The import function only occurs once - it doesn't keep syncing. So, either add them in Edge, or reset Firefox, updating it to the latest version (53), and try it again, without any extensions.

As I stated in my post, Edge is now my default browser. I'm just having trouble adding files to the folders which I imported from FF to Edge. I've been able to do it up until today and now not able to add new files. Could you reread my post and see if you can help me. Thanks.

Microsoft Edge Favorites are stored in a database as opposed to an HTML. It is not readily editable in Windows.
If your problem is as I described above, I would suggest resetting Edge to see if that resolves the problem.

    Note in the tutorial:
    Warning
When you reset Microsoft Edge, it will also delete all of your favorites in Microsoft Edge.

If wanted, you should back up your favorites in Microsoft Edge first.
