Two Backup software on one system

Why can't you have two backup programs on the same system? I had macrium reflect v7 (paid) and Acronis 2017. I've used Acronis since version 8. Starting with Acronis 2012 it started to slow down a lot. Upgraded all the way to 2017 thinking it would speed up. It didn't and may even had gotten slower. After going around with them deciced to use their advice and uninstalled Acronis and used their cleanup tool. Then reinstalled it. It was on par with Mac's speed. Only one thing though. Macrium would't work. Seems that it disabled the vss service. Also system restore wouldn't work. Tried to restore from image just made with Acronis which worked, but Acronis was AWOL from system. Restored mac reflect image which put Acronis back on my computer. Finally just uninstalled Acronis without using the clean up tool and Bam, vss and system restore working again. Looking to install the free version of Aomel. Been looking around to make sure it and Mac reflect live happily ever after. Any thoughts? Having one primary and one secondary program to fall back on might make me sleep better at night. But they have to be reliable.

I've already deleted Acronis but can reinstall if I want. I have the bootable rescue disk and if possible may see if I can create an image to external hdd with that.

Just FYI, I had the same experience with the Acronis Cleanup Tool but fortunately I had a backup that allowed me to restore my system and then uninstall Acronis in the normal way. I now use Macrium but I keep an Acronis USB Rescue stick since a still have a few Acronis images of old games that I want to hold onto.

Insofar as keeping both on the same system, it didn't appear to cause any conflicts although it was only for a two week period. I suspect they will coexist without issues but if down the road you find they won't then you might need to do a clean install to fix the problem. If you don't mind doing that then go for it if it makes you feel better to have them both.

I had a Macrium VSS problem when i had Acronis and Macrium installed at the same time.
I fixed it by deleting the Acronis VSS Provider registry key.
    See these articles:
