    Edge Stopped Opening

Edge was working just hunky dory until one day it wasn't. Cortana will works (fingers crossed). I only use it for Bing Rewards. I had been having a LOT of crashed pages before it stopped, which I just realized. I am on a legitimate Windows 10 Pro, Dell Laptop (older but just fine), and as I said, it just stopped opening.

I have tried opening as Administrator, I have done the scans M$ says to do, I have done just about everything everyone has said to do (rebooting between tries) and it just won't open.

As I said, Cortana still works, which I understand is weird because when one stops, the other does too.

I have searched the community, and haven't found this exact issue anywhere, so I post here. Thanks.

    Hi, options:
    1. Use a system restore point.
    2. Restore your system from a disk image - you have discovered how invaluable the routine use of disk imaging is- so often recommended here- e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + its boot medium + external storage for images - allows you to recover from many situations relatively quickly without tech. help.
    3. Repair/fix:
Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10
Therein find Edge. Read the instructions at the start of the section above that.

That's why I'm not using Edge. To many problems. Problems I don't have with Fx or Chrome.

Dag nabittit, I usually do a system restore first thing. I create them regularly. I went back four days and it worked. Thanks!

I normally use Firefox, but with Bing Rewards, I get $5 gift cards from Amazon. I like Amazon gift cards. Very much. I get more points towards them using Edge. So, I use Edge until I have all my points for the day, then back to FF.

I have a disk image, but never really want to use it. It takes too long. And yes, I was as impressed as you were that a system restore actually worked. LOL

That's good.. but you need to update.

It takes me just a few mins to actually create a system image update once I've connected my disk and launched the program. That's from a SSD. And it's not too long with my 1Tb SSHD. USB3 transfer rates help.

You do use incremental or differential imaging do you? They are faster and smaller. The base image takes longer to create.
