It seems it can be done. After a couple minutes googling for possible solutions I found this on our sister forum.

The short answer is that you can't install it to an alternate location.

The longer answer is that you can hack up a solution through junction points to create a link to a different location. See:

See if the standalone installer gives you the option to install Chrome in a different location when you use the All users option.

Information about the alternate (download page is below the quotes)

Alternate (offline) Google Chrome installer (Windows)

If you're having problems downloading Chrome using the standard installer at Chrome, try downloading the browser using an alternate installer, available through the links below.

These alternate installers don’t require network connection to install Chrome, so you can install Chrome while being offline. Once installed, Chrome will attempt to automatically update whenever it detects that a newer version of the browser is available. However, your network configuration may prevent the browser from updating properly. It's recommended that you bookmark this page and come back periodically to manually download newer versions of Chrome. That way, you can be sure to receive important security fixes and feature improvements. You can see if updates are available by visiting the Google Chrome releases blog.

Choose between two alternate installers for Chrome:
    • If you're downloading Chrome for your own user account only, use this installer:
Alternate installer for one user account »
    • If you're downloading Chrome for all user accounts on your computer, use this installer:
Alternate installer for all user accounts »

After you've download the installer file you need, open the file and follow the instructions on the screen to complete your installation. For additional help, please visit the Chrome Help Center.

Install Chrome for all user accounts

    Windows instructions
As an administrator, you can use the alternate installer to install Google Chrome for all user accounts on a Windows computer. By doing so, you'll replace all other versions of Chrome that may already be installed on your computer for other user accounts.

Don't have administrator rights? Download Chrome for your user account at Chrome

If you already have Chrome from Chrome installed on your administrator account, make sure to uninstallit first before using the alternate installer.

After you've installed Chrome through alternate installer, users who've already installed Chrome in their user accounts will be notified that the browser has updated to a system-wide version the next time they sign in and open the browser. In some cases, they may need to recreate their profile information, such as bookmarks and browsing history, if they were formerly using a more recent version of the browser.

Here's the download page for the Chrome standalone installer.

Press the Download Chrome button on that page and agree to the terms. If you want to make Chrome your default browser, leave the check in that box, otherwise remove the check.

Please write a post if the alternate installer allows you to change the install location just by launching it. Many installers have options that can be specified at execution time. It might take a bit more work (i.e. extract the install files, change the information in the ini file). I don't know what the alternate installer for Chrome allows. It might just put it in the Program Files folder instead of the users Appdata .... folder.

    Thanks.

    and you know this because:
    a) you tried it
    b) you launched the install pkg with /?
    c) you investigated the msi pkg with Orca
    d) you're a Chrome developer
    e) ???

Not to enter into a great debate, because I'm not willing to go through the exercise unless jamos316 is willing to try it.

Installer pkgs often have parameters that are not well documented outside of a developer discussion.

I did close my post with: It might take a bit more work (i.e. extract the install files, change the information in the ini file). I don't know what the alternate installer for Chrome allows. It might just put it in the Program Files folder instead of the users Appdata .... folder.

If you choose to really investigate this, there are two flavors of the standalone installer - User and System. Make sure you use the System stand alone Chrome installer.

Maybe all jamos316 really wants to do is move the data store folders, not the entire package.

I'll bow out until jamos316 adds some input.

Because there are plenty of google posts that tell you it's not an option.

Yes. You can install Chrome in any location you want if you use this portable installer.

Google Chrome Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives

A special advantage of this version is that you can optionally put it on a RAMdisk to reduce SSD/HDD load and increase caching/browsing speeds by a little bit.
Of course you can put in on a USB as well ... that was the main idea of portable apps for starters as you will know already.

You really shouldn't use this for day to day use, as it doesn't update automatically. That means you won't get new updates as they are available, and that can lead to a lot of problems because almost all sites assume google users will always be on the latest version.

You have to manually download and install a new portable version whenever updates occur, and they don't always update for every version.

It does not cause "a lot" of problems.
I have machines which have had chrome versions 2x.x installed until shortly and browsing was still fine.
The OP had a question. And this is an answer to his question.
In any case the portable editions are alarming you when updates are out. And you can simply install over the old installation without losing settings. It is not a big effort if your main issue is to have the install location on another disk like OP asked for.
