Interact with Desktop using Project Spartan...

I am a developer who currently has a web application that calls a COM object on the PC that IE is running on. With Project Spartan I'm aware that they are getting rid of Active X which is the method we used to be able to do this.

What I'm looking for is what is the equivalent going to be with Project Spartan (EDGE)? Is there something already in place for developers who need to communicate with the client PC through the web browser?

    Thanks!

I suggest that you sign up for Windows Insider to get all the information you need for your project. Gabe Aul is constantly communicating thru email with Insiders including developers like you about what's coming up and how MS wants to get people like you involved in their latest OS development.

Here's the latest email sent by Gabe:

    *************************************************************
    Hello, Windows Insider –
It's Gabe again from our Operating Systems Group (OSG) with more updates on the Windows Insider Program. Since my last email to you, we’ve come out with new releases, including both desktop and phone builds.
I'm also excited to announce that Office 2016 is now available for Insiders to preview on Windows 10. It's loaded with new features that we'll be delivering to Office customers later this year. But we'd like to get early feedback from Insiders like you now. Download the Office 2016 Preview today.
As I've said before, we truly value your feedback on these releases – which is why we've created a variety of ways to submit feedback. You can respond directly using feedback tools within Windows 10 Insider Preview and Office 2016 Preview, trial the "quests" in the Insider Hub, or post to the Insider forums. You can also send us feedback and report problems through the Windows Feedback app.
And here's something for all you gamers out there: Over the next few months, we have planned unique gaming experiences at some of the top gaming events in the United States and Europe (such as E3, GDC, gamescom and Comic-Con). Our Insider experience includes special Insider demos, VIP parties and more. Just complete our gaming survey, tell us more about your interests and activities as a gamer, and you could win one of 25 Insider invitations that we’re giving out for each event. Tips & Tricks
    • In recent builds, we've added a new app which gives you an easy way to contact Support when needed. Just type "Contact Support" into the search box. A few quick clicks in the Contact Support app and you'll be connected by chat or phone to Microsoft Answer Desk – a one-on-one connection with a Windows 10 expert. From this app, you can connect with the community, chat online with an Answer Tech, get a call back so you don't have to wait on hold, or schedule a call at a convenient time. We think it's a better way to connect with customer support in those rare cases where you really need help.
