I have tried un-installing and re-installing Chrome- made no difference.
You could uninstall Chrome and run the cleaner at https://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/chrome/cleanup-tool/
Then reinstall the standard version of Chrome if you don't want to use the experimental version.
After a recent update, I also had Chrome problems. Tried uninstalling & re-downloading multiple times. Finally, I downloaded & installed the 32bit version successfully. I then installed 64bit on top of it, and all is well.
