Windows 10: Microsoft Edge open and close
Microsoft Edge open and close
After recent update MicrosoftEdge open and close immediately. No warning after it.
We also had this problem with Edge and the Photos App opening and instantly closing when trying to open.
This happend only to domain joined Windows 10 computers (ver. 1607) so I suspected a GPO.
We had a GPO that was messing with the: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider key
One thing the gpo did was replacing the permissions on the Networkprovider-key which resulted in that the local security group: ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES-group was removed from the NetworkProvider-key.
After adding: ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES-group and giving it Full Control to the: NetworkProvider-key, Edge and Photos application started working immediately.
Of course we also removed the GPO-setting that was causing the problem .
Hopfully someone finds this helpful.
I ran CCleaner today (Great program by the way!), like I do every couple weeks, and it said that edge and internet explorer needed to close to finish. Thing is, I use neither. So Do they auto run in the background? How can I keep them from starting?
I have Microsoft Edge set to open a blank page when opened. When I click on it in the taskbar, two blank page Edge windows open. One closes with X but the other one only closes with Task Manager.
How do I fix this?
I didnt find a subforum that really fit problem, so if its in the wrong place my apologies &feel free to move it.
