I tried converting my account to a local one. I delete and add the same Exchange account but the dialog to enforce policies does not even appear (yet it does for my Microsoft linked account) so sync fails too. I will try it again later and update you.

    Thanks again.

Whenever I try to disconnect my Microsoft account I get this error.

I look at my user account and it is listed as local but also connected to my Microsoft account.

    Any ideas?

I converted my account to a local one and entered my account details but still no difference.

However a red exclamation mark appears next to the account name, what does that mean? If I choose 'Fix Account' it just takes me to a menu where I can change sync settings or delete the account.

Sounds like your profile is messed up... you may need to create a new account, transfer all your files, and delete the old one. Also, you need to make sure *ALL* accounts on your system (if you have more than one) have passwords that meet complexity requirements of your admin (even ones that don't connect).
