Need to change windows 10 email display name

    Windows 10 Email APP
I need to update my last name.

    I go to SETTINGS
    MANAGE ACCOUNTS
There is no box to update ANY name change.
I could do a work around by deleting and reinstalling the account,
but that will delete ALL my email.
Is there a way to get to this in regedit?

This APP needs an update to allow for these situations.
And in the mean time will use a dif email app, possibly Mailbird.

    Sigh.

Pissing me off too. In my Live Mail (which Microsoft told me is being stopped and have to switch over to Mail app), I can change my sender name. But in Mail app, there is no such option to change my sender name!! It's pathetic. I think the sender name is linked to the name you have in your Microsoft profile. But what if you don't want to use that name etc?? I even changed my name anyway, and it never changed it via Mail app.

    I found the SOLUTION!

To change your email name in in Windows 10 mail:
Go to settings (the little gear),
    Click on "Manage Accounts",
Click on the account you want to change,
Click on "Change Mailbox Sync Settings",(see page snip)

There will be a box with your name there that can be edited!
    Change your name.
    Push "Done".
    Push "Save".

Now your new draft will show your name change.
    Pass it on!!

I did that Tobycat. You CAN change name in the Mail app. But you can't with a Hotmail email address. My Live Mail 2012 is still working fine currently! Lol.

Work around to fwd mail to your gmail account or copy and paste the contents to a new mail conversation or fwd the mail again from the gmail account to your recipient. I'm pretty sure you gave your correct name to Google! If you are trying to use another bogus name then create an email for it on yahoo or other service.

Copy and paste makes the recipient unaware of your Windows account name (wanted mine anon too, stuck with it short of a new Windows account and trying to move your user profile that won't go smoothly)!

So name on the Email seems to be directly tied to what you told MS when you created your account!

I had no name box to change in any of my accounts, and they all said 'uh', because at some point I had changed it. Maybe I was drunk, idk.
So, I was going to use a different mail app, and I deleted most of my accounts, the ones with the 'uh' name. But I thought I would try to add them back and see what happened. Sure enough the name was correct, and also all my mail was still there, reflecting all the mail that is in the account online of course. No problem.
    .
So, just delete the account and add it again. Name restored. Depends on whatever name the mail account shows online.
