Telephone numbers showing as links in Microsoft Edge Browser

When viewing my web site pages in Microsoft Edge browser, all the telephone numbers appear as links even though they are not.

When I view pages using Firefox they look like an ordinary list of telephone numbers as they should. They also look like ordinary telephone number on my tablet

Any idea how I can stop them looking like links when I use Microsoft Edge Browser

    Thanks in anticipation

That's a feature of (probably most browsers) Edge and IE explorer, If you click on the phone number it will open your default phone dialer.

In my case with Edge it's not sure what to open it gives me these options.

If I click on a phone number with internet explorer it will open Chrome and dial the number for me.

I do not know if there is a way to change this behaviour.

Do you have Skype installed? If so then that's one of its features - to be able to call phone numbers from the Internet, it's a paid service & you can deselect the 'click to call' feature of Skype so the numbers aren't clickable.

I do not have Skype on my computer so it is not that that is causing the phone numbers to appear as hyperlinks.

I use Microsoft Edge as my main browser and the phone numbers show up as hyper links in that.

If I switch to Internet Explorer or Firefox, phone numbers do not show up as hyperlinks.

The problem therefore is confined to Microsoft Edge so there must be a way of switching this off within that programs set-up and it is that that I wish to find.

I can find plenty of info for disabling that feature under IE 11 but not much for Edge, if you have Win 10 pro you can use group policy to disable the links.
There some info on this site: https://www.windows-security.org/c37...mber-detection which I hope helps & may give you some insight on how to disable it on Edge.
