    account blocked then suspended

My Outlook.com experienced both yesterdy. I did nothing wrong, have checked for malware and followed all the steps to be normal. I was told I was unblocked then when I sent an email it said I am suspended. After an hour on the phone, to no avail, I tried this am and after verifying I was normalized.
Someone was trying to access my account was the message that popped up.

Has this happened to you and why does this happen if you follow the rules?
What can I do to prevent this? I read about 2 step verification but this does not seem to help in this situation.
    Thanks for listening,
    Peter

I would be willing to bet that some scammer is trying to phish you.

Do not phone any phone number you get from an email unless you verify that it is the actual number it says it is. Also do Not let them connect to your computer.

    >>I sometimes did not close out of a site like my email. I now log off then log in Windows phone app for Android called Outlook.com.
They are having an issue as I read a MS thread which was saying to delete this account to log off instead of saying log off. I say this because once you delete the icon stays and to use it you just enter your user name and p-word.
This is clumsy developing at best and I think besides that there is an international language issue where delete should be log. I know that's a stretch but hopefully some one will read this thread and delete the Outlook.com mail account when done with it. It can be very costly when a company tells you your account is suspended or blocked especially if you follow the rules.
    Good chatting with you

The suspension and blocking is usually due to Spam be sent from your account...ie your account was hacked , usually they let you re verify it after a few days and get you to change the Password......

Ask friends and family if they got a Spam email from you , most may not see it unless they look in Junk Folder , usually the Spammer sends emails to all your Contacts at once but they are getting smarter only doing 30 or so at a time so it doesn't trigger M$ suspension now.

You make a lot of sense. I will check with my contacts. I think I was bothered b/c they unblock me after I changed the password and verified they still suspended me after being unblocked.
What do you think of changing firewalls so we don't broadcast with Windows firewall.

Thanks , it has happened to a friend of mine 4 times in the last year , he didn't notice the spam, but if you check your sent Folder you suddenly see tonnes of Emails on one day. My Friend only changed his password a little, the 1st 3 times, so the Hacker guessed it again , it wasn't till he made it long , with Caps+Numbers too that he seems to have stopped them.

I appreciate the information. All seems well right now. I notice there was another firmware update to Android as both my phones got it today only a week after Marshmallow. It is 6.1 but it took quite a while so was quite a modification.

Hi the Android update shouldn't have anything to do with Outlook or WLM..... make a strong password....

the 2nd Android update was probably the June Security Update , I usually get one a month on My Nexus

Odd that we had one from KitKat to Lollipop and one from Lollipop to Marshmallow. That's all I have ever had with my Samsung Galaxy S5 Verizon except for this recent one. It took about 20 minutes for each of the phones.
I did not think Outlook or WLM was involved but thanks anyway.

That is because Verizon controls the Updates for your Phone , the Nexus Phones are Provider Unlocked I think it is, so they are directly Updated with Security fixes etc each month. The Nexus Phone are supposedly "Pure Android" but I am not that knowledgeable about it as I just got it (6P) 3-4 months ago at my Brother's suggestion, so it's my 1st swing at Android.
