Problems Importing Favorites into Edge from IE11

I have posted this question/complaint on another thread, but I have been locked out. So I'll try again. Why can't Microsoft fix the Edge import process to reliably import all favorites from IE 11? I have tried all the workarounds including copying the IE 11 favorites to the <username>/appdata/local...directory and the editing the Registry. Nothing works. Why should it be so difficult for MS to implement a reliable Favorites transfer? What is the point of using Edge, when IE 11 is more friendly?

Any thoughts/suggestions? I have been using Windows 10 for over a year and the problem persists.

Well, you didn't really tell us what problems you were having with performing the import.

So, let's skip the diagnosis and jump right to an alternative approach...

You might consider using a 3rd-party application called EdgeManage to see if you have better luck with performing an import operation from Internet Explorer.

    Specific problems ithe Edge Import

The specific problems are simple...the import process does not work. At best, I get about half the favorites that are present in IE 11. Secondly, there is no way to sort the imported favorites alphabetically. That being said, I not inclined to use a third party tool to accomplish a task that Microsoft should be providing if they want their customers to start using Edge! Who knows what additional problems EdgeManager will introduce. Until Microsoft provides a REAL solution, I will just keep using IE 11.

Perhaps if you could provide a link to your other forum post, the expert members here would have a more precise idea of the exact issue, as well as what has been suggested and tried?
That way, someone may be able to better assist you, without duplicating efforts or confusion.

    Just a thought,

    Related Thread

I would love to reference the original thread I posted to, but I cannot locate it. I have used the available tools such as clicking on All My New Posts, etc. but nothing shows up. I don't know what happened to the previous posts. That being said, I had just started posting to that thread and there was nothing significant there that I have not posted here. Sorry, can't provide more info. but the bottom line is I have three computers, all with Windows 10, and the import process has not worked with any of the three computers. I have stayed with IE 11 on all computers.

MY BAD - the original thread was on the Microsoft Community website! I hope this link works, please see:

Sorry for the confusion...there are too many forums to keep track of sometimes.

    EdgeManage

Well, I bit the bullet and installed EdgeManage. So far it appears to be a quality product and with a minor amount of tweaking, got it to work the way I wanted. I still maintain this is the type of functionality Microsoft should have provide when Windows 10 was released.

Now will see how long it take MS to add extensions to Edge so those of us that use password manager such as LastPass can use these applications.

Would recommend EdgeManage for those having problems importing and managing IE favorites to Edge.
