yahoo email on windows 10 mail

for the last 2 days i have been getting a message that my 'account needs to be updated' and asking me to update my password for my yahoo.ca email, my password doesn't work
finally found a thread that advised me to delete the account and re-add it, so i put all my very important emails into the archive folder and deleted the account and re-added it, all my emails are gone and i'm still getting the same message that my email password needs to be updated!
i have tried to access my yahoo.ca email from the internet, but it is telling me that it doesn't recognize my email address!
i have no idea how to fix this and how to get all my emails back
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone help me!
i am using a friends email to get responses

    Sassie

ok, it looks as though you are getting to the correct place.

It isn't clear what asked you to update your yahoo account (Win10 Mail App ... Outlook.com ... Yahoo)
I'm also not sure where you archived the msgs or deleted your account (Win10 Mail App ... Outlook.com ... Yahoo)

Try logging in to yahoo.ca first, then going to the mail page
You might try yahoo.com, but that's just a guess

If you're sure that you entered the correct info on Yahoo, then only Yahoo can assist you.
    Poke around Yahoo help
Here's somewhere you can start: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN2624.html

File Explorer sear your PC for the eMail files

use the following searches in separate File Explorer windows

    kind:=communication

    ext:eml

They might still be on the machine.

The mail might still be on Yahoo - not sure how you set up the Mail App (delete mail from server when deleted from App ???)

Unfortunately, I think your best bet is to pursue this with Yahoo. Maybe it's just a password thing, maybe it's the Yahoo servers .. they'll be able to answer your questions. They do have backups, but I'm not sure how long they retain the data - and since your login isn't recognized ... that adds impetus to contacting them.

Good luck, that's all I can offer.
