My Firefox invaded by the Matrix? (UI Glitching)

I've been staying on the stable release channel of firefox, updated to Version 71 a few days ago, and either its something I changed in the "about:config" section that didnt translate well into version 71 when I updated, or something in this release is turning itself into fractals because the devs missed something when they pushed this into the stable channel

the following attachment has both an example picture on what it sometimes does (NSFW links were edited out except one that took care of itself, thank you glitches, for once), the list of extensions I currently have installed on my firefox (all updated to their latest stable release, no dev/nightly versions installed), and the prefs.js file that contains the changes I made in "about:config", to both increase my own security, and to frankly turn off some stuff I did not want on at all (PiP mode, pocket, etc...)

Yes I have reported this on bugzilla and am waiting for a response for either a passing dev/admin/mod/whoever bothers replying, but like the last time I used it, its going to be a long while till I get a reply there

Windows Version is 1909 OS Build: 18363.476

1, Your link does not go anywhere, at least for me.

    2. Try starting Fx in Safe Mode. If that works, then restart, disable a set of extensions, test, repeat if need be with another set, until you find the culprit.

2a. If 2 supra does help, try creating a new Fx profile; don't do anything in terms of moving files from existing profile, just see if this fixes problem. If so, then you can start the process of moving files.

    3. As for your contention that the latest release of Fx ought not to have been released, given that this is based on a sample of one, if is likely not accurate. Could it be? Yes; however, for example, I have not seen anything about this on mozillaZine, other than one bug report I just found which does not seem to apply.

its just weird; I don't think I touched any settings I shouldn't have when I used about:config to go into firefox's advanced configuration mode, and I dont believe any of my extensions are the culprit, as before I updated to version 71, I had absolutely no graphical glitches whatsoever regarding firefox

sure my windows desktop (for whatever reason I have yet to pinpoint), refreshes its desktop whenever my dropbox app starts up, but other than that my computer is virus free, and the holy trinity of command prompt commands (dism /scanhealth, sfc /scannow, and chkdsk /scan or chkdsk /r /f) found nothing wrong or nothing broke to fix

maybe i'll just figure out a way to backup my passwords on firefox without re-inputting them all again, backup my bookmarks and extensions settings, and ill just do a full fresh install of firefox at the stable channel. Can anyone tell me if I can/how I can backup my firefox passwords, either manually or with another extension/program?

Are you using userChrome.css for customizing the Firefox interface? I ask because there were changes in Firefox 71 that might cause the interface to look out of place if you dont fix the old css code or remove it (leaving it as it was would cause the interface to look bad).

If this is the cause of your issue, fixing the code or removing it will fix the graphical issue.

Other than that, if this is not whats causing your issue, creating a new Firefox profile for testing can help you figure out what is causing it.

Currently using this to backup/ restore:

Download Hekasoft Backup & Restore 0.85

Along with a manual profile backup.

Check profiles.ini and make sure that it points to the correct path for your profile.

Type about:support in address bar to see profile that is in use.

No, the chrome folder and the userChrome.css file are created by the user for customizing Firefox.

I mentioned that this might be the cause of your issue because after updating to Firefox 71, my Firefox UI was looking ankward, bad, out of place. To fix the issue, I had to slightly modify the code written in my userChrome.css file.

But since you dont have the file or folder, it means this cant be the cause of your issue.

If I was you, I would create a new profile, and test changes. If all looks well with the new profile regarding the UI before making any changes or adding extensions, then it means an extension or some setting you have is whats messing up the interface.

well, after backing up my bookmarks in both html and the .json format, and copying the logins.json and key4.db file, I did a full uninstall of firefox and re-installed it fresh, then for a few days I used it with no extensions of any kind, worked good; then I reinstalled all the extensions I had before, re-configured everything back to what it was before I uninstalled firefox, and for a long while after Not Myself's reply on what I should do, nothing has glitched out

I want to say its solved, but ill give it a few more days after this post just in-case it glitches out again, otherwise I guess my problem is no more?

I'd say make a profile backup this time. Then you can always clean install Firefox and restore your profile in the event of problems.
