............how do I copy everything from my old account to my new one.................

    Before you ask...........................
I have never had to do that and therefore I really am not sure what are the correct procedures.

    Sorry.

** adding...... I never backup files. If I have important documents I will insert my external harddrive > create a folder with a name in the ext. hdd > drag and drop the documents into the folder.
    That's how I "backup" files.

No big deal, as the only app I have installed manually is Facebook. The rest are pre-loaded by default.

One could also use Microsoft's USMT (User State Migration Tool), which is apart of ADK.

In regards to using Macrium Reflect or any other third party backup tool... They're a waste of money and quite pointless, as Windows natively supports creating image (partition) backups using DISM.
    • To create a backup, one would use the Capture-Image command via command/PowerShell terminal (there are also DISM cmdlets for PowerShell, however for simplicity's sake, I'll only list the DISM commands), and the Apply-Image command to apply the image.
    • You must be booted into either WinPE or WinRE to capture an image of the system partition. Booting into WinRE is easy, by going to Settings - Windows Update & Security - Recovery - Advanced Startup - Restart Now. You'll be presented with a handful of options, and you'll want to ultimately select Command Prompt, which I believe is under Advanced Tools/More Options (or something to that effect).

    Capture Image

    DISM /Capture-Image /ImageFile:Z:\Win10Backup.wim /CaptureDir:C:\ /Name:"Windows 10" /compress:Max /NoRpFix /CheckIntegrity /Verify /ScratchDir:Z:\Temp

    • Where Z is the partition you're saving the captured image to.
    • Scratch Directory must be set (failing to do so will cause the capture to fail), and you must create the Temp folder prior to issuing the command. You could simply point it to the root of Z, however it's cleaner to set the scratch directory to it's own folder

    Apply Image

    DISM /Apply-Image /ImageFile:Z:\Win10Backup.wim /Index:1 /ApplyDir:C:\ /CheckIntegrity

    • After applying a system image, one will also need to issue the following commands:
      1. bootrec /fixmbr
      2. bootrec /fixboot
      3. bootrec /rebuildbcd

@JW0914 Just to be clear here sir, Macrium Reflect makes a FREE version, which is more reliable then Windows, plus can do more, than Windows image back can do. BUT....as always it is the users Choice on what they prefer to use. :)

Even if it's free, it's still pointless and is inefficient (you must download it, burn it or create a bootable USB, etc)

More reliable than Windows? You obviously have never used DISM, as if you had, you'd immediately understand the lack of intelligence your statement has. I'd encourage you to enlarge your intellectual arena and do some research prior to posting about subjects of which you have no knowledge of.

Macrium Reflect offers nothing that isn't natively supported by Windows... but by all means, please enlighten us with what you believe it to offer that isn't already natively supported, along with how you deem DISM is not reliable.

No need to be snappish, Mike was just stating there is a free version of Macrium.

No, he stated far more than that, of which was factually inaccurate. Demonstrating the ludicrosity of a reply is not snappish, it's holding an individual accountable for factually inaccurate statements.

You have a choice......which is fine by me......insulting me for MY opinion is NOT ok with me!!! You want to use Windows to make your image backups, go for it..... I do use DISM in many other cases, but NOT for Image backups. Their is nothing inaccurate about my statements......and I don't care if you agree or not.
Have a Nice day.....if you know how sir. :)
