It's hardly surprising that a browser that is only a few months old wouldn't be as mature as browsers that have been around for over a decade. Most people forget that when other browsers, like Firefox, Chrome, etc.. were first released, they too did not have all the features they have now. It takes time for a browser to mature.

Still, MS apparently is working hard to shore up the shortcomings.
Mystere, if you or I were to invent a car named Internet Explorer, tweak/improve it for 20 years, and then invent a new model, named Edge, wouldn't we know to put basics, such as power windows, air conditioning, and a radio, in our spanking new Edge vehicle?

IMO, Microsoft is so enrgrossed with squeezing a few more horses out of the engine, that the company neglected to install many basic niceties...and a few critical components.

But if your analysis of Microsoft's current focus is correct, we have reason to be optimistic that Edge will soon receive the niceties that were omitted. The sooner the better, because I do like Edge for basic web browsing.

Windows 10, and Edge being an app for Windows 10 (just like other apps built-in like the Mail app, etc..) are all works in progress. Windows 10 is being designed in a very different way from previous OS's, in that they use a process where they release a product in the early stages, and then slowly, based on user feedback, add more features over time. This is in contrast to them simply doing everything in secret and then releasing a product without any major outside feedback, which is what they've been doing previously.

The "doing it secret" part has resulted in some spectacular failures, and the new process while not fast enough for many people (who are used to the full final product being released all at once) is making inroads. But, you can't please everyone, as there will be people with opposite opinions on how things should go. Some people are going to feel ignored or snubbed, while others get what they want.

EDGE seems to have resized everything to super-small. 21st Dec 15

Writing on 21st Dec 2015, EDGE has in the last 24 hours decided to resize everything to about 3/4 linear dimension. That appears to be roughly changing 11pt font (of this website on a 20in monitor) to 8pt font. I'm NOT talking about the reading mode - just the regular mode. All the pictures also scale accordingly

Of course there are no knobs to twiddle to fix it.

I note there was a Win 10 update over the weekend which may be relevant?

When I say unreadably, I mean it. 65 years old, eye sight not that great. I don't do 8pt font. So I'll be changing to Explorer for a while until this gets fixed. Shame, 'cos I'd just about made friends with EDGE as its pretty quick and that offsets all its foibles - for me anyway.

Anyone know what's going on? or whether there is anywhere I can rescale the size?

Try holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard and rolling your mouse wheel.

    Spot on! Thanks:)

So we discover there are what I would call 'knobs' to twiddle EDGE, its just seems they are hidden along with the documentation telling you about them. I wonder how many more such undocumented features there are hiding? That should start a debate!

That's the universal zooming feature of Windows, and works in pretty much any app that can change scale and has for a dozen years or more. Ctrl-+ and ctrl-minus also do it.

However, it's not hidden. If you click the top right 3 dots, you see "Zoom" with a +/- right there out in the open.

Ah yes. I am duly educated. Thank you:)

Since seeing these replies, I've worked out how I got in this mess. Yes - finger trouble. I'd installed the MS software to drive the smart buttons with one of those excellent MS ergo 4000 keyboards. That software enabled the zoom button (amongst others) - now I know how that works i.e. equivalent to Cntl > scroll-wheel. For present I've uninstalled the software so I don't fall down any more surprises of my own inadvertent making.

Just to complete, then EDGE is going to start up in the zoomed state it closed; not returning to square one.

Try running the free version of Malwarebytes, its pretty darn good. I use the Pro version, and Its runs right along side my Nortons 360 with no problems. As far as chrome goes, I run that too, its faster than IE11 and gives me no problems at all. But if you don't like chrome, try Firefox, lots of choices. Norton should have protected you from malicious sites, strange that it didn't. You could also install the free CCleaner too, just to help keep your computer clean and lean. These are just suggestions Margie. Enjoy your stay here at Ten forums!!! :)
Thanks Mike, I have used Malwarebytes before, and I should try again, it must be something, its so slow! I'll post what happens with Malwarebytes:)

Edge doesn't support BHO's or any ActiveX for that matter, so it's not really possible for you to be having BHO problems in Edge. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

Edge doesn't have toolbars (other than the favorites bar). So there's no way to select something that doesn't exist.
Thanks Mystere, obviously I don't know much about it, ok, I get it, no active X, no BHO's, ok I'm learning! What I am trying to say, is my laptop has been slow eversince I upgraded and I'm trying to figure out why.

Try not to use EDGE. The more you do, the more problems you'll find and the faster you will AGE!

Over the past month, a volley of updates (fixes?) arrived for Windows 10. In the hope that perhaps Microsoft got around to bringing Edge up to at least the functionality that IE-6 had back in 2004, I opened Edge today. Findings: It's still more like IE-3 was in 1999.

Tried to print page 1 of a 2 page document, and it wasted my ink by printing page 2. So, I ask it to print page 2, thinking that it would print page 1. Crazy Edge printed page 2. Because it was a secure document that was a pain to get to in the first place, I just went ahead and chose "ALL" pages in order to get page 1.

I see there's still no way for Edge's back button to be pressed down for navigating back to specific, already-visited pages, within a website either. The "Edge Project" must be where they assign all the bright 3rd graders participating in Microsoft's "brain exchange" program.
I do not use it for anything anymore! I think its crazy!
