The calendar won't sync either with or without the patch. I did not use the calendar so that was not a deal breaker for me.
I can attest that imap or pop still works. I have one of each. So as not to have duplicated folders when using imap I had to alter the "special folders" under properties-advanced for the imap account.

Yes I did the same thing in my IMAP settings after noticing a Deleted and Deleted Items Folder , Outlook.com was Using Deleted and WLM was Using Deleted Items per the Special Folders , same with the Junk Folder etc .... BTW It's on the IMAP TAB actually.

I was thinking maybe Special Folders aren't needed at all and we can just Uncheck that option Under IMAP all together and it will use the Folders on Outlook.com , so I tried it by setting up one of my accounts again that way and so far it seems fine....

And Thanks SlartyBart , that makes it easy to copy and paste numbers etc....

am a little surprise they took a year to publish that info though......

I was not aware that there will be ( or is) two versions of Outlook.com

You're welcome - it's always good to have what the provider defines To be honest, many server addresses all point to the actual server address ... if you look around the net, you'll find different ones for Outlook.com - this is just a transitional mechanism. I posted the most recent as they are specific to Outlook.com

I think the information has been there, but MS moved Outlook.com / Outlook Mail under the Office umbrella, so it wasn't easy to find. I had to search for it every time, then pick through the older search results to find the current info - going directly to the Office site, it wasn't front and center.

The update to Outlook.com affects syncing
Delta sync is supported if your Outlook.com account has NOT been updated
Delta sync is NOT supported if your Outlook.com account HAS been updated

IMAP and POP3 work as many discussions show.

You don't need to define the special folders in WLM - It doesn't hurt to have them set or not have them set in WLM.
If you think about it, the special folders are more or less local storage (sent, draft, deleted, junk), but .... those folders get created in Outlook.com and get sync'd to other clients anyway.

It's an old synchronization problem - who is the master and who is the slave .. is there a master or are all clients subject to operations of other clients?

When I changed the Special Folders on One Computer , I had to do it on the My Others too as they were complaining about not being able to find Folder to download and to download all the Folders again.

Yes with M$ nowadays we are no longer the Masters of our Own Domain (Machines) :) , when I go to Outlook.com to check things, I get told off for using a Adblocker too :)

Glad to see another diehard sticking with WLM. In my experience all you need is the last update (your step four) and for MS to have converted your account to Outlook Mail. The server address change is unnecessary since the server is determined from your email address. You can put any address you want in for the server and it will still work. I put in (https://mail.mickeymouse.com) and it still worked. I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 14393 and all I did was install WLM 2012, enter may email address and password and then installed the latest update (allows WLM to work with ActiveSync) and everything was OK. Long live WLM.
Interesting. You're referring to KB3093594, the patch that's no longer officially offered, right? If people downloaded the d-Mail.msp patch installer back when it was still available, you're still able to install it?

Now that my account has just been converted to Outlook Mail, I might look to give that a shot. My only concern is that the same thing will happen as did before with the folder hierarchy getting messed up (subfolders not appearing). What has been your experience with that?

I have the feeling that WLM is living on a very short thread. MS has a plan and that plan includes the death of WLM. These temporary fixes will come to an end. Even though I am still using WLM by switching over to IMAP it is not the same as it was. There are little glitches I am experiencing like when I send an email it shows up in my "SENT" folder twice. The recipient only gets it once? The syncing has gone with the calendar etc. May be time to start researching a good alternative to WLM rather than holding out for a miracle here. I hear that EM Client is very close to WLM and works very well with complete transfer of all contacts, email folders as well as storage folders. Not sure there is another that can do that.

MS is really starting to bust my you know whats!!!!!!

I did not experience any problem with folder hierarchy, but I only have 30 or so folders and none more than two folders deep. Your results may vary and may not be the same as mine. Proceed with caution. I just checked my WLM and everything is working okay including syncing of mail, calendar, and contacts. However, I also believe that it just a matter of time before MS finally pulls the plug.

Well, after pretty much headache and a lot of time wasted, I found the file where the ActiveSync url relies, because if you changed it under account settings, it never got replaced and it didn't work. So, the file responsible is "msmail.dll" from "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail", which I have hex edited and replaced the original "https://m.hotmail.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync" with a tinyurl I created "http://tinyurl.com/wlmail2012", because the newer Office 365 ActiveSync link "https://outlook.office365.com/Micrososft-Server-ActiveSync" was longer than the original one so I couldn't fit it in the dll that easy.

In order to obtain my patch, just follow these steps:
    1) After WLM 2012 installation, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FIRST APPLIED THE 2ND D-MAIL.MSP PATCH provided here: http://www.filehost.ro/3172282573/d_mail_v2_msp/.
    2) Then, with WLM 2012 closed, copy and replace this file: http://www.filehost.ro/3172311238/msmail_dll/ to "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail".
    3) Start WLM 2012, insert your account by using the classic setup settings (DO NOT USE IMAP/POP).
    4) Let it sync until all folders are synced.
    5) Try to send emails to yourself and check if received.

NOTE: I noticed that if you repeatedly click SEND/RECEIVE BUTTON, after >10 attempts, it won't sync again for a couple of minutes (you receive the same 0x801941F7 you always received when using any of the patches). I guess this is either related to an antispam filter on Microsoft Sync servers (which is limiting you to send a lot of Sync requests in a short period of time) or it just doesn't work correctly at all and my patch is just placebo.

I'm gonna test it for a couple of days and if it won't work, I will give it up and go for the IMAP setup. This was my last hope that finding the path of the sync URL and changing it would fix the issue permanently.
