I don't understand why it is not working for everyone else. It works fine for me as imap.

Maybe they set it up wrong. This is the best guide, it also maps the account folders correctly so there are no clones: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...1-fc23cc6fbfe0

Just a quick update , I am still using IMAP with WLM but it has been slow and throwing a number of errors getting and checking email, but this morning I found a tip online to change the Incoming Server to :

    outlook.office365.com

I have IPV6 as I am on fibre now so I am not sure if this fix works for everyone or not ? , but now WLM is pretty fast collecting mail etc , ie seconds not minutes and no error messages about Server errors since making the change

Tip found here: Setting up an Outlook.com IMAP account

*** Edit matfx says to try smtp.live.com for out going server too

Great and very useful tip! I have a lot of folders on my 2 email addresses and now it checks them much faster for newer emails. I also tested inputting the same address to outgoing server too and also email sending is faster too. Thanks a lot for this. Still using WLM 2012 on my Windows 7 x86 SP1 OS (the best Windows version in my opinion).
