I did download and install the French patch, as I use WLM in French. The link provided in Microsoft's email brings you to a localized page.

I just tried this, let's see if it changes anything. What issue were you talking about? The coding or the missing Sent emails?
The coding. The font kept changing after I uninstalled the Microsoft patch. I discovered running the repair from the exe file worked.

    Here's an update.

    1) The repair method seems to have fixed the coding issue. I'll keep testing for a whole day, but it's looking good, so thanks for that.

    2) Regarding the sent emails not appearing immediately in the Sent folder (Hotmail accounts), I now understand how it works: WLM, instead of placing the sent message in the Sent folder straight away, has to go through a round of Receive email (F5) to download the message from the Sent folder on the Hotmail.com account.

It was not the same behaviour previously.

Edit: nevermind, point 1) has happened again, UGHHH.

For your 'sent items' problem try clicking on 'conversations' in your 'view' tab and make sure it is off.

    Seems it's greyed out.

Anyway. To me, WLM now works sufficiently.
The coding problem is just a cosmetic one.
The sent emails problem is just a behavioural change.

I'll keep working like this indefinitely/until there's a new update.
    Thanks for your support, guys!

Also, if you are using Windows 10 try this:

On the Microsoft Forums, users have posted several solutions. One is to run the application in Windows 8 compatibility mode. This can be done by navigating to the Windows Live Mail 2012 folder and then right-click on wlmail.exe. Select Properties and on the Compatibility tab select ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for > Windows 8’. Apply the changes and the start the application as usual.

I'm using Windows 7, so this shouldn't apply to my case.

Will run WLM in XP SP3 compatibility mode for a little while though, see if that changes anything.

The Conversations option is only available when sorting by Date. Click the Sort by button to change the setting.

    Good luck.

Yeah I always sort by priority flag
Just did by date and the Conversations option is disabled.

Edit: can also report that running WLM in XP SP3 compatibility mode doesn't fix the coding problem.
Anyways. There's worse, but hope to hear from Microsoft soon on that matter.

Okay, this is actually worse than I thought.

Emails sent from Hotmail accounts in WLM are marked as "To:"... myself!!!

    See here:

(I'm "Gabriel", but these emails were sent to other people, like Nick.)

This is unacceptable for me, so I'll try to uninstall the patch.

Edit: I now got rid of the hotfix and everything is back to normal! Emails sent immediately placed in the Sent folder and to the right recipient!! (plus coding problem gone)

Could this be the new Outlook Mail for Win 10 that will replace WLM? It says Outlook for 2016 and does indicate it will be a part of the WIn 10 OS?
