Okay so the email notifications still behave the same for me. They work sometimes, sometimes not - oftentimes not. Totally unreliable.

Edited: I initially thought that a friends computer with a similar config had perfectly working notifications but I finally saw it miss some so his as well has issues.

I give up. I'm going to turn off mail notifications and turn it off as a background app, remove the accounts from the Mail app, put Thunderbird as Mail default and just use Thunderbird. I'll check back here from time to time to see if they ever fixed it.

    If this helps:

    Mine is a desktop pc resolution 1680 x 1050
Local m/s account .. nothing synced
Works first thing on start up, rarely get notifications after that, some, but not many. Same closed or open
I have one email account which is a pop3 account with my internet provider
    No igfxtray.exe

I initially had an upgrade now it's clean install .. same results with either

All notifications turned on - calendar app only in background list

Email look up / sync every 15mins

Has the mail app been changed on latest update? Seems the settings area is different? Not sure as I have been using win 8.1. The notifications area in mail lets you set for all accounts at once- don't remember it being like that before. So far it is working.

Like you, I noticed the settings had changed slightly, I sent myself a test email from my gmail and didn't get a notification.
So nothing to get excited about with this update

I like the way it looks with dark setting and highlight colour of my choosing, but it's not reliable enough for me.

The settings changed a couple of updates ago for the mail app, they also added linked inboxes

Oh that figures. I suppose it will stop working for me. Win 8.1 at least works perfectly for me.
