Google Search not working in Edge

I have google.com.au set as home page as I mainly start browsing with a search. I first started to have problems last night when opening a new TAB for a new search and selecting Home page rather than using the Bing search on the new TAB. As soon as I start typing the search bar jumps to the top left corner and gives you a few suggestions, but after I finish entering my search word/term and click the search icon or press enter I can see internet traffic by the light on 3g modem but the page remains blank.
This is now starting to happen on my homepage when first opening Edge. I type in my search the search bar jumps to top left corner showing a couple of suggestions, but that's as far as it will go.

It does however work normally sometimes. Last night was the first time I came across this problem and I'm sure I've done searches this way since I started using EDGE without any problems.

I had my wife try the same thing (in EDGE) with the same result, though she uses Firefox as her default browser.

Your better half is playing it smart having another browser in use since Edge at this time is still an adequate replacement for IE or any other browser! It's still a "Work in Progress" in that sense. MS simply slapped it in fast on 10 rather then waiting until if was fully developed just like 10 has the Windows Feedback present in the Windows Accessories suggesting why 10 is a free upgrade at this time is that it's still not quite the final RTM? MS wants the feedback first!

Hehe, wife wouldn't even use IE though I was quite happy using it since Win95. Though I did use FF whilst I was using Ubuntu.
There a quite a few features missing in EDGE such as not being able to right click and "Save Link As" which I miss desperately. But I've been persevering with it and giving it the benefit of the doubt hoping updates might see it improve, but I'm not sure whether it has had any updates since we installed Windows 10.

Edge simply isn't ready to be any form of full pledged replacement for IE and one reason besides too many sites still requiring IE MS was forced to leave it in! You can simply go into the IE Program Files folder and right click to pin IE onto the Taskbar and Start and unpin Edge at this time and not suffer any!

Here I ran with IE mostly until the 64bit 7 came along and got busy at times with multiple IE browser windows freezing up on me often and while having looked at FF and Iceweasel found in the Debian Knoppix live for dvd distro as well as FF in ubuntu live cds years back I needed a good sub for 7 and ended up with Waterfox! Someone wanted a 64bit flavor of FF and went ahead to put out a better browser in the 64bit flavor outside of Mozilla there. Waterfox - The fastest 64-Bit browser on the web

When booted live on some occasions with Linux Mint Debian as well as having a Linux VM I end up with FF there however while I put Waterfox on the 10565 Insider build being run on a VM without a hitch! I also looked at Edge there and simply pinned IE once again!

I have the exact same problem atm. It started yesterday (28/10). If I change edge to "start page" and make google my default search engine it works fine when typing in the search bar. But, I have always had google as my home page and now if I open edge to home page (google) and just type a random search it shows no results, but it does work SOME times. It's always worked flawlessly up until yesterday. I found info about reinstalling edge by deleting an"appdata" directory and reinstalling with a "powershell" admin command. I did that, and am still having the same issue. If i'm on google homepage and type in the address bar it works every time, just not always from google search bar.

I think going about trying to change the defaults is where you are running into the problems. Edge still isn't ready for everything you want at the present time. It needs a bit of work to play catch with IE for sure!

Actually, I didn't change anything (until it stopped working)...It worked fine the night b4, I only started making changes as a "process of elimination" when it wasn't working.
I appreciate edge is still in a learning curve, but this was just (not working, for "literally" no reason)

I had the same problem and so far it seems to be sorted by selecting "never show instant results" in the google search settings

I suspect at this time Edge will be highly fussy about things especially when trying to employ anything other then the defaults and why I simply put running it on hold for the time being except for the Insider builds. Even there it still seems in need of further development and in it's present form not a browser you would want to count on 100% of the time. It's there but simply not ready for a complete takeover.

This issue is not browser related, it happens with Edge, IE, and Chrome.
For now indeed, disabling instant results is workaround (it has to be done in each browser individually).
