Windows 10: Microsoft Edge Taskbar Icon disappeared after System Restore
Microsoft Edge Taskbar Icon disappeared after System Restore
I'd like to have the Microsoft Edge Icon on the taskbar again as the only way to access it at the moment is using the search field at the far left of the taskbar running along the bottom of the screen and for some reason this doesn't respect the settings I have. In particular, it searches using Bing rather than Google (in the settings I have specified that it should use Google).
Can someone please tell me how to create an icon for Edge on the taskbar?
Welcome to the forum
The search box only uses Bing, I am not aware of any settings to change this, it is an MS search similar to how Google use Google Now which only works with google searches
For Edge on the taskbar, if you search for it and run it, when it appears on the taskbar can you right click it and select pin to taskbar
Alternatively Start Menu->All Apps then find Edge and right click and select pin to taskbar
Thanks for the reply. Where would I 'search for it and run it' please?
I forgot to mention also that I tried the Start menu > All Apps route but don't see Edge anywhere. Could it be that it needs to be installed? If so, how would I do that? A reinstall of Windows 10? I didn't see any links when I googled 'download Microsoft Edge' that looked like they would be providing instructions on how to install just Edge.
I think what might have happened is that some parts or even all of Edge were removed by some software I have. I tried to get Edge and some other things back by doing a System Restore. The other things are back but not Edge. Although Edge launches when I use the Search Field at the far left of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, there is no Edge icon on the taskbar and it doesn't seem to be available through Start either.
