Edge or IE? What more does Edge offer?

I've found a few sites don't work well with Edge, and had to use IE to open them. Norton also warns that it is not set up to handle Egde yet compared to IE.

So what's the purpose of Edge over IE? I'm struggling to see what it does better, even the favourites are not laid out as well as IE.

And the address bar is hidden in Edge if entering a web address, especially if opening a new tab.
A pile of new icons that have no apparent use for normal people.

Edge is the future browser for MS and it is still in development so not all sites will be compliant with it at the present time. As for Norton, they have to get their software up to date to handle Edge as well.

Oh and as for IE. I just never found it anywhere near as good as say FF and/or Chrome.. or any FF like browser. And some time in the future IE will be phased out by MS.

I've never had much luck with chrome, so much crap runs in the background by default. Firefox used to have issues years ago, as much as IE does, pretty much 50-50 between them.

Give FF a try again.. it's really good and the esr version is the best way to go for a stable version, IMO

I use Edge when copying text from within a pdf file. With most pdf programs, copying the text of a pdf file comes out unformatted, but not so within Edge. Reading and copying from pdf files is all that I use Edge for.

In short, it's supposed to be MS's "newer, better, faster, simpler" browser. The UI is a decent improvement on the modern version of IE from Windows 8 IMHO. Unfortunately it's lacking plug-in support right now (and last I heard there's conflicting information about whether Edge will ever even have it) which is a huge downside. The built-in flash support seems to work quite well on less powerful machines I've noticed, so it's probably aimed more at the tablet market.

cyberfox 64 bit is all I use now; Edge is like an Alpha app, IMO, and needs a TON of work if its ever going to become a top tier browser
