    Email app for elders?

I updated my grandpa's laptop to 20H2 and it changed the Windows 10 built-it Mail app.
    He uses POP3.
The older Mail app (with the blue icon) was convenient for him, but the new one (with grey icon) is not so good

What's your recommendation for a convenient mail app for elders?

    Thanks

You don't have to use the Mail app provided by Windows. There are other email clients that have been around for years that are more capable.

I would regard any of these as potentially challenging.

How many email accounts does Gramps have? If just 1 or 2....then use em Client. Then there's Mozilla's ThunderBird.

My Mail app icon is blue on all PCs so I don't know why you say its grey. This is one of the simplest mail programs available. Consider using an IMAP server for the mail account if available since you can then synchronise emails across all devices.

I am an elder and use the Windows 10 Mail App on 6 Accounts for around 5 years. It has not changed much at all since appearing in Windows 8.1.
It has proved reliable and quite simple to use. IMAP is now used rather than POP3.

I have tried various other Email clients over the years.

The Mail App Icon background changed from Blue > Grey on mine after 20H2, but the Icon has been a blue envelope for a year or two.

Just setup webmail as a startup page in the browser, you can also use a simple notifier for emails.

The icon’s background doesn’t affect usage. MS changed all their Apps’ backgrounds to transparent. Or is it a case that it cannot be seen as clearly as previous version?

I have been using eM Client, a short time the free version, for several years, the licensed version. It can be somewhat geeky for young, middle, old alike. There is a little bit of a learning curve.
