Is chrome supposed to self update? Whenever i see an announcement i check and manually update, am i just beating it to it?
To add it will update itself by Google when they push it to everyone (which could takes days or even weeks), but manually checking when announced will always trigger it then and there.

Google is preparing a Chrome UI refresh for next year, and one of the changes will be rounded and colorful comboboxes:
The pink color is temporary, it looks like in the future the color of the comboboxes (and checkboxes) will change according to the color of the browser theme.

This feature is currently available in Chrome Canary and can be enabled with this flag: Attachment 379074
