I guess in win't move an existing installation as that would break any shortcuts.

In Chrome 86 you can enable the built-in "Tab search" feature, currently this feature is only available in Chrome OS, but it can be enabled on Windows using one of the shortcuts, you just have to add this at the end of the target field (in the shortcut Properties):

When you open Chrome from that shortcut, the built-in "Tab search" feature will be enabled:

    Tab search (GIF).

I think this new feature combined with the scrollable tabstrip is going to change the way you deal with large amount of open tabs in Chrome.

I know that there are some extensions with which you can already search for tabs in Chrome, that's why in the post I clarify that this is a built-in feature.

The stable version has been updated to build 86.0.4240.111, and the new version brings the fix for a bug in the "New tab" button:

Before, the clickable area of the button did not extend to the top edge of the window, now that area does extend to the top edge.
