I'm excited! , I just read one of the patches (under review) in Chromium Gerrit, it has to do with a very important feature that will be added to Chromium (version 81, Windows 10), I'm almost sure it will work in both, Chrome and the new Edge, I will share more about this once I have more information...

PS, For those who still don't know what I mean by a "patch" in Chromium Gerrit, a while ago Peter Kasting (Chrome engineer) explained it:

FYI, patches uploaded to Gerrit aren't commits to the Chromium repo. If you don't see "MERGED" in the upper left hand corner, it's not landed
Once the patch I'm talking about is "approved", it will become a "commit", and the new feature will be added almost immediately to Chrome Canary.

Well, I have already collected information about this feature, now I can write a full post about this:

The feature is called "Web UI tab strip" and it started working a few months ago in Chrome, but only in Chrome OS, now, according to a patch under review that I found in Chromium Gerrit, this feature will be available in Windows 10 soon:
Allow WebUI tab strip to be used on Windows and Linux

This feature is something similar to the "tab preview bar" that already exists in the old Edge browser (I think the same function was implemented in other browsers before it appeared in Edge):

Something that seems quite important to me is that you can scroll through the tabs:

It works roughly the same as in Edge:

    Another GIF:

(To see the full GIFs you have to open them in a new tab).

Yeah, in other forums I have also seen comments from users who don't like this feature, I guess it is "exciting" only for those of us who have used the old Edge and have become accustomed to the "tab preview bar".

As seen in the GIFs, the feature is activated only when the arrow is clicked, just as it works in the old Edge.

Not my Cup O Tea, didn't care for it in Edge, don't think I'd care for it in Chrome either.

I fail to see the usefulness of such a feature!

What I do see is a tragic waste of screen real estate!

I know it's to each their own, but I agree. I hope if this does come to Chrome it's opt-in, and not on by default. Even now the tab hover cards are more than enough for me.
