72.0.3626.121 just released.
In the most recent versions of Canary, they have made a change that has to do with the dark mode and the NTP, when you set a custom background, the background color of the icons changes to white:
NTP icons.
This was not like that before (in Canary) and it looks pretty ugly in my opinion, another interesting thing is that, as you can see in the gif, now by default, the "fakebox" doesn't appear in the NTP if you enable the use of the Google local NTP.
