Yes, never had any trouble with PortableApps.com. One of the reviews on MajorGeeks says when you update the portable version, you have to reinstall all add-ons and copy/paste bookmarks. Could be too much trouble for some people. I've got the regular Google Chrome and it works fine. I try not to tempt providence.
This has been around a long time and is reputable:
Chrome Portable
Also provides latest builds going back a few versions of Offline Installers (Full Builds). The latter don't have any update gubbins built in. I'm still using v68 that i downloaded from there.

Those who use the stable version of Chrome will have noticed that, by pressing the F6 key, the focus is on the tab strip first, this was not like that before and some users complained about this change, well, Chrome has restored the function of that key and now, by pressing it, it focuses first on the address bar (as it was before) this works in Dev and Canary at the moment.
Another small novelty in Canary is the possibility of installing PWAs from the omnibox thanks to a new button.
