Chrome 90 is now available in the stable version and one of the new options is the ability to hide the "Reading list" button from the bookmarks bar. The "Reading list" feature started rolling out in version 89, but many users complained about the button, so Google decided to stall the rollout until the option to hide it was available.
The new item in the context menu was added first in Chrome Canary (version 91), then Google developers decided to merge the change into version 90 in order to continue with the rollout of the "Reading list" feature.
Google enabled this feature by default in the stable version (Chrome 89) for some users, so, if you are one of them and you don't like the button in the bookmarks bar, you just have to update to version 90 and the option to hide it will be there.
So, Chrome's New Tab Page now has a proper favicon (Canary):
![]()
