The end of Firefox as we know it?

With the upcoming WebExtension arrival, Firefox will not be the same afterward. Firefox 57, in November 2017, will support them only but version 52 will represent a point of no return.
A lot of extensions, that people are used to, will no longer work and several developers already announced they will not continue to work on their add-ons...
Unfortunately, it seems Mozilla will not change its stance, so there are few options for users...

This is the only one, as of now, that I would really miss. The author has already stated he will not port it.

    I wouldn't blame him! That'd be a huge re-write!
If 52 lands on Tuesday, we'll see if there are any tell-tale signs!

Same here, works in Waterfox as well however I suspect that will go the same way.

I would imagine that most of the most popular extensions will be ported over when version 57 is released.

However as I only use three extensions the loss would only be a minor inconvenience and I'll most likely continue to use FF as my main browser.
As an aside version 52 RC builds are performing well as most of the betas have been :)

Mozilla enables 'Container Tabs' for all Firefox versions through the Test Pilot Project.
Container Tabs allows for multiple logins of the same service, "Isolated Cookie Jars"

Tnx. Edwin, just updated it, my auto update is always off.
Some extensions and plugins that I kept on "Ask to activate" are gone. "Video Download Helper" was updated too.

Many 'pros & cons' in this release! (52.0)

As the "What's New" page is not yet updated, read more Here.

Version 52.0 of Firefox is a major release for several reasons. First, it is the first release that does away with NPAPI plugin support. Second, it marks the beginning of a new Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) cycle.
This Version does not support NPAPI plugins anymore, apart from Adobe Flash. So, no Silverlight, Java, Google Hangouts and other plugin support anymore.
