I just open FF, click on the hamburger>Help>About and if there's an update, FF starts it, then tells me to shut it down for the update.
It's usually a day or two late when I do that. And hey, it didn't crash once (yet). Last problem I had just before, on 58.02, suddenly any click anywhere was doing doubleclick only in FF and nowhere else. Had to restart windows to fix it.
