Cliff the Link in :The best is here: is in a different language, that I cannot understand. So guess I need to go to the Link above that at Microsoft Windows 10 ISO. and download from there. Will they give me the correct one - right?

PS: In fact that Microsoft Windows 10 ISO is the same site that the link I used sent me too because I could not use the Media thing. So Apparently it should be ok.... Right
Sorry about that. I'm an American living in Germany, and Damn Microsoft always defaults to my ISP and not my system language when I go to them. I forgot I'm using the translate app, so I didn't notice it wasn't in English so I sent you to the German site.

Here is the correct US English one: Windows 10

Cliff when I click on the Link and downloads it wants to install or save: win10_upgrade_9252exe

Isn't that the anniversary update that started all these problems in the first place or am I wrong. Search on Google tells me that is the anniversary update....which according to my machine (see pic below) I have an upgraded version from that.

Do I just trust them and try and run that as a repair option?

    You're welcome.
You just might want to go through your settings after the repair install.

Ok just to let you know that I did the repair install and everything seemed to be fine. It was really working good.

Then I shut the computer down and went to town for about 4 hours....when I got back and turned it back on....it had the black screen again and never could get it to come back up. Even with unplugging it completely for about 5 minutes, and returning it on, the hard drive would not come up.

So I gave up and took it into town to Best Buy for them to fix it. Looks like I am going to need another hard drive not for sure yet, they are going to keep it for a day or so, and do some checking and let me know for sure...they seen all the trouble I was having first hand right there in front of me. But either way if they put a new one in they are just going to put a clean install of windows 10 in it, with all the updates.

I guess all I can say is that it is really funny that I had no problems with the hard drive at all, until the anniversary update that took so long to load and come back up the first time. Just seems very strange to me....., I hate to say but I think the windows 10 update really broke my hard drive for good.

I want to say thank you for all of your help anyway. I think it probably would have worked if my computer would have kept recognizing the hard drive.

Thanks again to both you, Cliff and Toronto Cat, for all of your help

You're welcome, sorry it didn't fully work though
Usually a repair install is my personal & fastest repair all, on Windows 10.

I too am sorry that a reinstall didn't work. I can only believe that your Hard Drive was on it's last legs anyway before this fiasco, and that Windows 10 was not the cause, but the last straw.

    Good Luck.

Keep the prior instructions for running IE11 as Administrator. Even with a new HD, IE11 will give you trouble in Windows 10.

    Bye for now...

I had this problem with IE11 crashing on win 10. Problem caused Internet download manager!!! But even I uninstall IDM problem stayed. I had to reinstall system and than this problem is gone. Don't know why but problem is definitely caused by IDM! Do not install Internet Download Manager on win 10!!!
Now I saw that new built of IDM is out on Mar 22, 2017, maybe I'll try that one.
