Ok just to let you know that I did the repair install and everything seemed to be fine. It was really working good.
Then I shut the computer down and went to town for about 4 hours....when I got back and turned it back on....it had the black screen again and never could get it to come back up. Even with unplugging it completely for about 5 minutes, and returning it on, the hard drive would not come up.
So I gave up and took it into town to Best Buy for them to fix it. Looks like I am going to need another hard drive not for sure yet, they are going to keep it for a day or so, and do some checking and let me know for sure...they seen all the trouble I was having first hand right there in front of me. But either way if they put a new one in they are just going to put a clean install of windows 10 in it, with all the updates.
I guess all I can say is that it is really funny that I had no problems with the hard drive at all, until the anniversary update that took so long to load and come back up the first time. Just seems very strange to me.....
, I hate to say but I think the windows 10 update really broke my hard drive for good.
I want to say thank you for all of your help anyway. I think it probably would have worked if my computer would have kept recognizing the hard drive.
Thanks again to both you, Cliff and Toronto Cat, for all of your help
