    browser question

years ago i was using the firefox browser and then maybe 8 to 10 years ago i was talking about that on here and some on win10 told me to go with chrome because it was a bit more secure than firefox. so i switched all my pcs and friends over to chrome. plus chrome had a good password manager. but now whoever does chromes updates decided to take the bookmarks and how they present themselves and change them to the point they are useless for me. the folders on them are now blank and that makes them harder to make out and when you click on one and the drop down now has spread out so that before you may get 40 selections so now there are are maybe 20. plus the spell checker seems to have changed, before once i selected it it held the setting, now it seems i have to go into settings and turn it on about every 3 or 4 days. so someone or something is now messing with the chrome browser so that i just do not care for the layout anymore. i went to toms guide and one person came back and said to use firefox so before i wander over to firefox again i figure i might ask here to see what the consensus is now for that browser now. or maybe edge is getting better? back a few years ago i asked about edge and most said it was still junk. thanks

Firefox is my browser of choice, but I'll also use Edge. Some years ago Edge was junk, but it has been completely rebuilt and is now a Chromium based browser, and all the better for it.

Most modern browsers (ie) Edge, Chrome, Opera etc are now based on the Chromium based browser; an open source code created by Google. Except for Firefox. All modern Browsers, including Firefox, now include a Password Manager. Ad ways to edit the bookmarks.

thanks now i'm trying edge. i have chrome edge and firefox all in pinned taskbar tabs and not one has the bookmark bar in the same location and if i pull down the let's say the temp folder the sort order is different in all 3 and some items are missing in edge and FF. so i will pay with them for a few days and see how i like either edge or FF compared to chrome. edge sill shows folder in folder colors FF looks the same as chrome. so i expect edge will soon follow suit. thanks

To give blank bookmarks an icon. Once you create a new folder, say for the Bookmark Bar. Right-click on it and choose 'Rename'. A folder name windows appears, right-click inside the name box and choose 'Emoji', here's where you can select or create icons to use for your newly created folder.

    Horses for courses ....

I have 4 browsers installed, each for a specific pupose
    - general use = Brave. Easy to setup up, better customisation options
    - streaming= Opera; lucid mode option for best images
    - Firefox = best for confidential stuff, cleans out better than others
    - Edge ... it's there if I need it.

thanks. i really do not need particular icon but i like the folders to have a color

i have firefox and edge back on the laptop i use at night when setting in the living room and halfway watching tv. so i will give them a try and see if one works better. firefox has donaway with the color folder as well but edge so far they have them. but i may just keep using chrome and just get use to it as i may not have much choice.
