I prefer "no scripts" on my unofficial Mozilla browser otherwise. No scripts blocks everything and will load the main website. However it also blocks things on official websites. I like this fact as many official pages will share data via verification points. This way I could browse without the need to un-browse and if something load, no-scripts will catch it.
However - many consider this out-dated ( for some reason ) but is the most widely known. With no-Scripts you could halt flash, video, ruffle, Vitual-Console, and any other media resource on no/pause. Giving you the option to view whatever you want. Like when I DLC a page and want to print out the text while saving all the HTML parts only and nothing else. Leaving me with a smaller file.

Brave ( which is chrome but has it's own filters ) or DuckDuckgo ( which you have to set blockers but works more or less ).
However these are settings built into the browser.

HOSTS file ( on every Windows/MAC/OSX/Android machine is the built in firewall. There are HOST file lists for every OS, and you could download a beefy list of URLs, Websites, and anything you wish to block. Windows 11 considers this a violation and you will have to get around the Defender to fully edit this file. Later Android Google builds will ignore the HOSTS files, and makes impossible to edit outside of using ADB including whatever commands and actions needed to update. Earlier Android 4.0 still have the ability to freely edit the file. You also have browsers specifically made to be used with HOSTS files ( even if it is not installed or updated within Android ), but varies. However employment wise you might as well use the built-in web-browser.

HOSTS will do the trick but some list even have pay servers ( you have to pass through in order to make a purchase ), and you should look up a URL if you feel you have problems.

HOSTS ( on Windows 10 at least to my knowledge ) will go into effect and is literally filling the DNS with whatever URL you have. You might have to make changes to the DNS unless these changes have already been made. No a big deal but still something to understand.

    ..........

You could install an anti-virus which have there own list, and give you options.

You could also use your router and download a list or make your own list. However the list would need to be enabled or disabled.

    ..............

Personally I do not like fire-fox anymore, it is huge load on my system and attempting to use earlier versions "does not play well with current trends". My biggest problem was finding out how it would pre-load the website every couple of minutes, refreshing the page using my Hard-drive ( wearing it down ) and this had to be disabled in the settings. IDK if this is still the case but Fire-Fox is the past. Avoid the official series at all cost ( unless it is for employment concerns ).

    ................

I wish there was a sandbox type firewall / list systems. Windows Edge browser by now all later versions should have the "Advance Mode" which is literally a virtual-machine made specifically for internet browsing, and informs you of any threats.
Thus keeping your machine safe at the same time.

As a rule, we are not allowed to discuss any kind of ad blockers
Oh, sorry, I missed that tidbit. A shame, but ok, them's the rules.

    Thanks for all this info.
I have actually got most of the things you mentioned in place.
Except I won't use Chrome or any Chrome based browser or any google product or service.
No script is installed but it is such high maintenance to get it to work properly.
