Thunderbird Trash folder doesn't hold much

I use Thunderbird email version 115.9.0.
How can I get my trash folders to hold more of my deleted emails?
Right now, it doesn't hold more than one months worth.

In my Sent folders, I see emails sent back in 2019, and this is my main email account so there a many of them.

    Any thoughts?

Why?? It's a garbage/recycle bin for unwanted emails, it's not an alternate temporary storage area.

It's probably designed/intended not to hold much, for that reason alone.

Nope, that's not it. I have 4 email accounts set up through Thunderbird. What I just noticed was the gmail email accounts have a lot more trash in them from earlier dates, from as far back as 2022 whereas my Comcast trash folders only have about a months worth of trashed emails in them.

maybe it just has something to do with the servers: Comcast vs. Google email accounts...

    That didn't do it.

Still doesn't make the Recycle Bin anything other than a garbage receptacle for unwanted emails. You should check the settings for both service providers, and TB, to make sure trashed emails are emptied from the the folder so that it doesn't need an increase in capacity size. e.g Thunderbird/Gmail : Account Settings > (account name) > Server Settings > tick Empty Deleted folder on Exit

And in any case, Gmail Trash and Spam are auto deleted (emptied) every 30 days from your Gmail account, not through TB.

Log into your email account via a browser and check settings that way.

Manage Email Deletion Settings – Xfinity Email Help - Xfinity Support

Those settings take precedence over any options that you can set in Thunderbird.

Server space and £'s $'s is why.
