    Browsers which allow the address bar to be placed above the tabs

    Apart from earlier versions of Firefox (one of which I use for this very reason) does anyone know of any current browsers which allow the address bar to be repositioned above the tabs?

    Many thanks.

    I'm using Windows 10 v22H2 (OS build 19045,4046).

    Here is a code snippet (Firefox 115.7.0 ESR) for changing the order.
    Code:
    /* --------------------------------------------- */
    /* TABS below navigation area */
    /* --------------------------------------------- */

    /* (1) navigation area, URL bar, search bar ... */
    #nav-bar {order: 1 !important;}

    /*  (2) favorites  */
    #PersonalToolbar {order: 2 !important;}

    /*  (3) file menu and tabs  */
    #titlebar {order: 3 !important;}

    Thanks. I have my own coding which is fine for 80.0.1 but not any later versions.

    Looking at your screenshot, mine doesn't display the toolbar, which I prefer, and also has some other cosmetic changes; I wonder if I could incorporate your lines into my profile code?

    Hi Bert, you say yours doesn't display the toolbar, do you mean the favorites bar between the address (URL) bar and the tabs?
    The favorites/bookmarks bar can easily be disabled by right clicking and choosing to not display it.
    Or pressing CTRL Shift B.

    This is not userchrome (CSS) related, my code snippet above only changes the sorting order of the 3 items.
    If I want to display the file menu I simply press the ALT key which rarely happens.

    Yes, that is what I meant, and in fact soon after I posted I realised that it was easily switchable, as you say.

    Am I wrong then in thinking that your code snippet is part of your userchrome file? If it isn't, where and how do you apply it?

    Excellent; I'll take a look at that thread. Actually, I did find it earlier but got confused because it seems to start in the middle of a conversation and I couldn't find part 1.

    The only reason there's a part 2 is because part 1 wasn't laid out that well.
    It was easier, just to start over.

    The short version of part 2 is just do the about:config edits, then use ARI's Chrome folder.
    The version I'm using is attached to the first post in the part 2 topic.

    And.... it's already edited to look like the pic above.
    Well most of it. You'll need to set a few things on the Mozilla "customize" page in the browser.

    It IS a lot of tweaking. But I use 3rd party backup software, so I only have to do it once.
    After that... I just download the latest ARI's Chrome folder if something Mozilla does breaks Firefox somehow.

    Ah, so it's not so much part two, more a new and improved version of part one?

    Thanks; I'll give it a go in the morning.

    Yeah. It's part 1, rev. 2.

    I have a bunch of errands to run tomorrow, so if you have any questions, make sure to quote me or "@" symbol me, so I get notified that you responded.

    In 2021, I completely uninstalled FF, and reinstalled it, and did all those tweaks.
    It took me about 30-45 mins total.

    I'm mentioning these guys so they see this topic. They can also answer a lot of FF questions....
    And they are very familiar with all of "Part 2".

    Ghot, many thanks. My current version has been fine for some time but is now beginning to struggle (or worse) with some sites. I've put off updating it because I didn't want to lose my layout. Thanks to your advice and that thread it looks like I won't have to.
