Chrome bookmark file to another PC?

My mom's laptop won't boot but I can get the data from the drive in it. I was able to navigate to her user folder and find her Chrome bookmark file inside appdata>local>google>chrome>user data file. I'd like to find a way to bring her bookmarks to my PC in a bookmark folder so I can help her with some business. I had her financial stuff bookmarked in a folder there and it would be helpful if I could somehow get that onto my PC without replacing my own bookmarks. Ergo why I would like to bring her bookmarks into a folder on my Chrome as an option to navigate to.

Is there any way to make this happen without replacing my own bookmarks? I have my own complex bookmark system with many folders of bookmarks, so it would seem pretty simple in concept, but I haven't been able to figure how to bring her bookmarks over from that bookmark file into my Chrome bookmark file as a folder named Moms laptop or whatever. I tried adding a folder and pointing to that file but wasn't able to see that particular file when I tried to add it.

My thought? How about installing a different browser such as Chromium or Firefox and import to it? Maybe even Edge? It would preserve your settings. I usually am able to Export the Favorites/Bookmarks and Passwords from a running computer, haven't tried if Chrome's are accessible from a non-bootable computer.

    Hi,

I have the same problem like you and saw your thread.

I guess you can create a guest account or another admin account in your pc then try to restore your mom's chrome bookmark there first to try out first before trying to restore to your account, just in case you mess up your own bookmarks.

What is the location I can see bookmarks, history and chrome extensions that was in my faulty pc chrome that is unable to boot now?
I guess it is somewhere inside C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data but I do not know where is the exact location/folder/file to see bookmarks, history and chrome extensions.

I have posted in another thread but no solution yet Chrome in old PC

    Thank you

This helped me find it on my Mom's laptop, but not on my Desktop PC.

"Go to the ‘AppData’ folder which is located in your user profile directory. Move to the ‘Local’ directory, and from there to the ‘Google’ folder. Inside, you’ll find a ‘Chrome’ directory, and within that, a ‘User Data’ folder. Your bookmarks are stored within as files"

I found a bookmarks file and a bookmarks.bak file. I can't seem to find a way to use that information and I haven't yet figured out how to bootup the old laptop so I can export the bookmarks.

My Edge browser and my Brave browser already have bookmarks too, so I don't want to mess with them.

I'm still kinda stuck at the moment how to bring that bookmarks file into my existing Chrome as another folder without messing up my own bookmarks.

I have a few other browsers but they already have bookmarks. If the bookmarks file had an extension, I could rename mine as bookmarks.old, then use the new bookmark file as needed, then rename that file something else and bring back my bookmarks file. But it doesn't have an extension (that I'm aware of), so that won't work. Or I don't think that will work.

The bookmarks/favorites are URL, Uniform Resource Locator. The key issue here appears to be preventing imported files from being mingled with existing files, that's where a different freshly installed browser comes in. One could Export those files for saving, delete them from within the program then Import others.

But that assumes the PC in question boots up. Which is the problem here.

I thought I might be able to create another Chrome profile and bring that bookmarks file into it, but I can't seem to find a way to make that work either. I think I'd have to create another user account on my PC in order to try to bring her file to Chrome without replacing my own bookmarks, but I really don't care to have another user profile on my PC.
