    popup blocker

say i just put a new drive in y pc and had to reinstall chrome. i had a popup blocker that worked good and not the popup blocker keeps popping up in the lower right side by the start area with a message about trackers and i just can't get it to go away. i can click the x and it goes away for a bit and bam back again. i went into chrome and set popups to Don't allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects but that seems to be failing. i also just went and remove the poper blocker i had but that failed.

so maybe removing chrome and reinstalling it may take that poper blocker away?

on time some her said to get adb for adds and ublock origin for removing content and a popup blocker, but i think i got the wrong popup blocker, geing it is caller poper blocker!

so do i need a popup blocker with chrome being it is supposed to have a popup blocker? or is that popup i keep getting, coming from chrome?

if i should have one what one was it that some recommended i get for chrome that was a free app? thanks.
this is what i get and i took the ext out of chrome.

    Hi.

I would go it your extensions and remove whatever you installed to block popups. Chrome will do this on its own.

Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Scroll down to Pop up and redirects > click > set to prevent.

As to an ad blocker, we really don't talk about ad blockers. uBlock origin is very good.

thanks i removed that poper blocker extension and ran the virus checker and i had 2 viruses. elm is what window said i do not know for sure if they were still popping that lower right side warning but after the virus checker ran and i deleted them that went away.

as for the adb and u block origin i got those from this site so some talked about them back then and popup blocker not the poper blocker but back then chrome may not have had that ability thanks

I recommend/use faithfully Ublock Origin and Adblock Plus.

If you're using these, any popups are not that sort of popups, per se, and you should be looking elsewhere. Note that occassionally some sites may be breached (albeit temporarily) and the popups are benign unless clicked on

Nope, no point in using an adblocker add-on/extension if you're going to bypass by giving permission. AFAIC those 2 adblockers serve a purpose and should be respected.

Adblockers can be browser dependent, some block ANY popup (e.g. bank logon). No one size fits all, you need to choose a browser to suit purpose, quite often more than one browser for multiple purposes

Not that I would suggest you go to my extent - Brave (default), Opera, Vivaldi, Firefox, and more lately LibreWolf. All serve a different function and have their own unique set of bookmarks/favourites. Note that that abomination Edge doesn't come into tyhe conversation anywhere!!!

I assume you're talking about the payment portal/window for each of these sites?

I too have multiple sites that don't work properly in some browsers, but do work perfectly in other browsers with the same add-ons. It's puzzling I admit, considering most browser are all either chromium based or Firefox style based. Why some addons are over zealous with some browsers and not others .... Meh!

One thing to watch is the difference between a pop up and a notification from a site.

I've seen Chrome installations where people inadvertently allow notifications from a site. They come out from the lower right corner repeatedly from some sites, almost to the point of making Chrome unusable if enough sites allowed. Could be confused for a "Pop up"
