Chrome Continues to Bypass Me Stopping its Updates Like a Virus

Does anybody have a definitive guide on how to stop Chrome from updating itself? Stopped services, auto updates, etc. Thrown everything at it. The final step I had taken seemed to have worked last week. Because when I would start or shutdown Chrome, it would nag me about running an update, which I declined. But alas, now somehow it self installed like the miserable virus google has become.

Chrome usually sets a task in task scheduler to do updates - have you removed that as well?

BTW - why are you trying to stop it updating - many updates are for security.

Why do people think they know better than hackers when it comes to updates?

Just an observation. Personally I prefer to manually update browsers typically a few days after a new release to allow time for any bugs to be reported. The only browser where I allow auto updates is MS Edge. I don't use Chrome so cannot comment further except to say that there are many Chrome variants available most of which allow manual update checks.
