Any alternative to the new outlook windows app?

So, we know how Microsoft is forcing us to use the new outlook app on Windows 10, which sucks cause it's worse than the original mail app. I'm not updating my other PCs now since they still have the mail app working. but currently I'm on Version 22H2 19045.3693 on my computer I use mainly for school and they assign us a Gmail account for our school. it's important for me to stay up to date on my school emails, but I have no other way currently to get notified when I get a new email on there. I know the new outlook app lets you add a Gmail account but requires it syncs my emails, contacts, and events to the Microsoft "cloud" which I heard sends all that stuff to Microsoft to see or something, which I know I can't allow. so is there some app for Windows that lets you get notified for new emails in your Gmail account?

Hi, I decided to go totally 3rd party after MS scrapped Outlook Express, then Winmail. They cannot be relied on to consistently make basic items available over time that are add-ons to the O/S.

The same now goes for the Calendar app- which is being scrapped. Prior to that I used Cortana reminders- scrapped.
There's a basic lesson here- do not rely on MS for things 3rd party tools do better.

I use Pop peeper (free or paid) - this sits in my tray and I have it set to periodically scan my email accounts (pop3 or imap) - and unlike the new Outlook
    a. is not limited to particular email providers
    b. has no dependence on cloud services

This gives a notification (configurable) of new mail found.

I can then quickly look at the list of mail for all accounts or per account, and read, delete and reply. I have 'Reply' configured to use Thunderbird.

    Someone recently posted another option.

Thuunderbird: can be configured to provide notifications:

Oh, okay yeah I was honestly thinking the same thing, I should just use 3rd party apps from here on since Microsoft keeps getting worse with Windows update changes. Pop peeper looks like a good app to notify me of new emails so I'll try that out. Thanks.
