just over back arrow in windows 10 edge there is an icon that says personal.
i would like to kill it and bury it forever
is there a way

The Personal icon is your User Profile.
If you Sign In to Microsoft Edge, it will save all your settings, bookmarks, and passwords and you can access them from any other device when you sign in to Edge and they sync together. Once you sign in with your Microsoft Account you will automatically have access to Microsoft Store and any other Microsoft site.
If you don't want to Sign In, just ignore it.

sync is off
i don't want to sign in to edge to use it
it is still there
under profile, personal, it says we cant sync to your account because we need to confirm it is you
edge is going to force me to use vivaldi full time because it wants to control me, spy on me, annoy me.
after every update on my pc i search everything in order to turn things off
is there a way to kill it

i take it that it cant be removed or removed safely

Just go to Edge settings.
Settings > Appearance > scroll down > Show profile icon in title bar, toggle Off. > Restart Browser.
You will still have it top right but less intrusive. Scroll further down for other items.

thanks, that is better, still don't like it
thinking vivaldi will be my main browser
also considering 24 inch imac, windows has annoyed me since day 1 jan 1998
